Monday Music Challenge: Your Dream Come True!

We all have a story in our head which we think is perfect. This dream story typically involves us overcoming some great obstacle or enemy(s) to achieve some kind of prize (usually true love).
This week's challenge? Express that perfect fantasy of yours using music!

You must find four pieces of a music, each one describing a different part of your fictional life story:
  1. You!
  2. Your true love
  3. Your arch-nemesis
  4. The story itself
As always, I will post my four songs, and you can submit yours either in the comments, or on your own blog if you like (just link back to me)!

Let's do it:

1. You! This piece of music describes the ideal you, as imagined in your little fictional world. It's fine if it describes the real you. If you're having trouble, think of it this way: if this was a movie, then this music would play whenever you walk in the room. It's your theme song.

My pick is: the Main Theme from Medal of Honor: European Assault. It exudes honor, which is something I want to be known for, even if I don't live up to it now.

2. Your true love. I shouldn't need to explain this one. ;) Find some music that describes your ideal partner (if you pick my last pick, that would be the ultimate expression of awkward).

My pick is: Ghosts of Reach from the Halo 2 soundtrack. The first half shows us my princess' beautiful, graceful side, but in the second half we see that she also has determination and a fighting spirit; not a girl to be messed with.

EDIT: I'm changing this one. Listening to this track again, I'm just not sure it fits. So, I'm replacing it with Hella Bar Talk from the Star Trek XI soundtrack. It retains all the elements I like from the last one, but I feel that it's better defined.

3. Your arch-nemesis. Every great bad guy has a distinct theme, from Darth Vader to Sauron. What theme plays when your nemesis comes on the scene?

My pick is: Just a Memory, from Pacific Rim. Variations of this theme play whenever the Kaiju -- giant monsters out to destroy mankind -- come on screen. It's very chilling, and I get goosebumps whenever I hear this specific version. I like how it lightens up at the end, perhaps suggesting that my nemesis will redeem himself in the end.

4. The story itself. What is the main theme of your overall story? You, your true love, your nemesis, and your other characters interact with each other in a dramatic story. What does that story sound like?

My pick (and this was the hardest one) is: the Battle theme from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Like I said, this was the hardest one. But I hadn't heard this in a while, so when I did, I immediately re-fell in love with it.

What's the soundtrack for your dream come true?

  1. Me:
I had to do two...I've got so many sides it's hard to find one song that covers all of them...but here are two songs that fit pretty well. The first one is serious dark, and determined. The second long is light carefree and happy.

    My True Love:
Hahaha! I almost skipped this one, it was rather tricky...and I ended up picking two songs with words.

    My Arch-Nemesis:
JAVERT! I feel like I have a few Javerts in my life...no matter how hard you run they follow you, and condemn you. But thankfully mercy triumphs over judgment! And through Christ I'll win the victory.

    The Story Itself:
    Full of excitement! :D

    Fun idea! :)

    1. I like what you chose, although, I can't listen to the 2nd one- it's from Emma, right? Oh, and I See Fire? ;-D
PAYTON! You can't take my song! A Thousand Years is my song. Well, mine and his.....You know of whom I speak, Frod- er, Payton. :-P
So, I'm late to this, but you can blame it on Spanish, math, and Farm Frenzy. (My favorite game EVER)

I think I'm going to keep trying to use only songs with words, we'll see how long that lasts!

Me: This is tough.... Oh, I know! "Boy", by Little Mix. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duQ-JzCWGA0 I had a story (I never finished it, I should go back and work on that some more) where the main character worked for Cupid. Basically, she'd be sent to fix mistakes in pairing that Cupid had made, so she was responsible for breaking those couples up that weren't supposed to get together in the first place. That sounds all wrong and messed up, but it's not as bad as it sounds, I promise! She would be "stationed" as a very close friend of the unfortunate girl or guy, and do her stuff. This particular time, she was sent there years after Cupid's mistake, so it's much harder to separate them, even with her limited magic. (As to the song, bonus points for "Ain't nobody got time for that", and the beat-boxing.)

Your true love: A Thousand Years, by Christina Perri. (Payton already posted the link to it) That song is absolutely perfect for one of my stories. That particular story happens to be one of my favorites, and a spin-off of one of Payton's stories. :-)

Your arch-nemesis: Better Than Revenge by Taylor Swift. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYSgEFS11GU This is not so much their theme, as it is what I think of him/her........... I know, I know, it's immature, but I/the main character learns her lesson by the time the story ends.

The story itself: Hmm.... Change by TS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=You8_wdLl7A Fairly self-explanatory, I think. :-)

Jonny, I like your picks too. The Battle theme of tLtWatW is one of my favorite parts of the OST.

    2. Here's a different link to the Emma song:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQJ35HhCjNI
      Hopefully that one will work.

Mongoo...I'm surprised at a few of your choices! Hhahahaha!

    3. Nice! I can totally hear you in there. :-)
Which ones? Let me guess... Better Than Revenge, and Boy? ;-D

      Delete
    4. Just to clarify, each of those choices come from a different story. :-)

  2. 1) Me:
Quite honestly I'd go with Princess Leia's theme from Star Wars, at least this version of it. It's intense, sad, beautiful, serious, hopeful, and yet there's much to be said for the power, personality, respect, life, joy and confidence that it emanates.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KBygZLzsbs

    2) My true love:
Gerudo Valley from the Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony is my choice here. My true love is someone who exudes confidence and strength. He is a king, not just a prince, and is a just and virtuous standard. He has a soft and compassionate side intermingled with the the aforementioned strength and power; a perfect balance.

    http://youtu.be/THdRs7grqhE

    3)My arch-nemesis:
I like the Green Goblin Theme from the original Spiderman movie. It isn't necessarily fear inducing, but it keeps you guessing and has an air of cleverness to it. However, it doesn't let you forget that there is something dark and menacing beneath.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u783jgc0c4U

    4) The story:
I'll settle with something I see as a little stereotypical.... A Pirates of the Caribbean Montage. My story is full of adventure and daring, never a dull moment. It takes you through the ups and downs and leaves you with intensity.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQrYEEfgbG8

I had little too much fun with this :D

    1. Another Sherlockian! Yay! Have you seen the 3rd season yet?

      Delete
    2. Haha, yes, I take it you are one too? (In that case, you're awesome!!!) =D
I've only seen season 1, apparently the other season's have a lot of objectionable things in them. My sister said I have to wait a few years, which kinda sucks. =(
      What about you?

      Delete
    3. Yup! Thanks! :-D
The 1st ep. of S2 was.. inappropriate, but the rest seemed okay to me. Oh well. Which ep. of S1 was your favorite?

    4. You're welcome! =D
I think my favourite episode of season 1 would have to be 'A Study in Pink', but I really like the end of 'The Great Game' when Moriarty makes his appearance... what one is your favourite?

      Delete
    5. "A Study in Pink" is my favorite too. What do you think of Sherlolly? (Sherlock x Molly)

      Delete
    6. =D
I actually LOVE 'Sherlolly', they are rather cute... though I can't imagine Sherlock ever taking a relationship seriously. Haha, love the "Would you like to have coffee?" "Black with two sugars. I'll be upstairs." that kinda cracked me up... =D

      Delete
    7. They would be so cute, but I doubt Sherlock will ever be in a serious relationship.

      Delete
    8. Haha yeah, I could NOT see him in one… which is kind of a pity, coz he and molly would be fantastic! * bashes head in frustration against the wall *

  4. This is way too vague. Just sayin'....

    1. You don't like it? *cries*
      JK
Well, everyone else seems to be enjoying it.
The next one will be better though, I promise.

    2. But that does give me an idea... I was going to ask you guys if there is any way you think I could improve these posts, or any suggestions you have for the blog or posts in general. If you have a suggestion, leave me a comment!

    3. The "vagueness" helped me, to be honest. I don't think I would have/could have done it if it was very specific. *shrugs*

      Delete
  5. Oh, it would be cool if I could ever, ever settle on a song for each of these. I have bazillions of songs I could use, except for the villain, I don't know what I'd use for him.
    I'm too zapped to think.

    1. Indecision is a bad character quality! JK, I know what you mean. But you're not even going to try?
Who said your nemesis has to be a "him"?
Okay, hang on, lemme get some chocolate...

BTW, this is totally random, but Elie, if I told you that I found a comic that reminds me of you and is basically a cross between WALL-E and Calvin and Hobbes, would you want to read it?

      Delete
    2. Well, no I suppose I didn't even try. I was totally busy anyway.
But I'll do this next challenge! Or at least try.
Umm, girls are way to smart not to like me.

      Totally! What is it?

    3. Haha, wow. Well, at least it hasn't gone to your head. ;) JK

I read through the entire thing in 2-3 days... Shows how much time I waste... but you can see the clear influence of Bill Watterson, in the humor as well as the art style.

    4. It's true.

Whoaa!!!!!!!!! Someone wrote a comic for me! I mean, it has my name all over it! Goshes woshes!!!

    5. I can't imagine what reminded you think of me....

    6. That didn't come out right....

    7. The Calvin-and-Hobbes-ness, the goofy poems, and of course, the name Ellie.

      Delete
    8. Ellie is so cute!!!! Hahaha! Goshes woshes.... Yeah, she's almost as cute as Wall-E.

      Delete
    9. Her poems remind me a lot of Calvin's. :D

      Delete
    10. She's almost like a cross between WALL-E and EVE. She got his treads, but her scientific, exploratory purpose.

I know! Like this one: http://ellieonplanetx.com/comic/inside-your-insides/
At the end where she says "Woop!" is where I thought "That is EXACTLY what the Ellie I know would say!"

    11. She's a pleasant mix. Scienticially adorable.

Hahaha! Yeah, that one made me laugh out loud, way back when I was near the beginning of this whole thing. I should probably go read a book....

    12. Exactly! That's the term...

Haha, wow. I didn't think you'd be that far already!

      It's all your fault!!!!

    14. I had a feeling that's what you meant, but I was afraid to correct you...

Sorry! It's not like I could've chosen not to share it with you!

    15. Haha! Really....

No, like I said, it's got my name written all over it....

    16. Haha... Have you finished it yet?

  6. So, my first chance to listen to all y'all's picks...

    @Payton:
    I like your picks.
I love that first one. The seriousness and passion is great!
The Emma one was great too, though in a different way. I have to add that to my music library...

Okay, why is it all the girls I know like guy singers with really high voices? Seriously? You'd think bass guys would get more attention for sounding manlier, but noooo... it's always the squeaky guys. Okay, maybe not. But I See Fire is good.
A Thousand Years was a little better...

The Javert one was a playlist, and it stuck me on the first song, so I don't know which one is supposed to be the one you're talking about...

    Ah, gotta love PotC!

    @Mongoo:
Boy was... interesting. Very interesting. But the reference to was great. XD

    Wow, thousand years is popular...

Ah, Better than Revenge. I am... familiar with that song. It's very... interesting.

Change was interesting too, but in a good way. I actually liked it, even though Taylor's voice sounded weird a few times. If it fits your story, then your story is one I'd want to watch if it were a movie.

You had a lot of "interesting" picks! ;)

    @Maren:
I had forgotten all about Leia's theme. I had forgotten how good it is... John Williams' style is so audible. I also see that the video was posted by NinjaDoctor9! That guy is like, my #1 soundtrack resource!

The Legend of Zelda one was really cool! It had all the elements you mentioned. Definitely adding to my music library... I'll have to look into the other soundtracks... I know the main theme, even if I've never played the games, and it's good.

Ooh, the green Goblin theme was exactly how you described it. Perfect for a villain. I also like how the drums almost give the music jungle-like setting at some points, even though that's totally not how it was in the movie.

Ah, gotta love PotC... Can't go wrong there!

Wow, you guys made some really good picks. I totally have to keep putting on these challenges, I'm being exposed to a lot of good music! Hopefully you guys feel the same way.

    1. Glad you liked them! Your choices were great too.
Ed Sheeran's voice is LOVELY! I like certain deep voices, but I really like the high ones...
Of course "A thousand years" is popular! It's the best song ever!!
The Javert song was the first one :) (If you like deep guy voices, then this is your song...)

    2. Glad you liked my picks.
I just don't get it. Next you're going to tell me that guys with long hair are attractive. JK
Best song ever? I think there are at least a few people willing to disagree with that... but it is a ... good song... in it's own right...
Okay, cool. It was... and interesting song. It didn't strike me as villainous, though. More like... depressing.

      Delete
    3. Let me guess, you're a "bass guy"? :-D
I don't listen to a lot of guys anyway, but Ed Sheeran has a nice voice. I haven't really listened to a lot of his songs, but I'd like to.
Sounds like there's a story with you and "Better Than Revenge". Tell us, we would LOVE to hear all about it! :-D
btw, have you guys seen the music video for it? I usually don't watch the music videos, but that one's pretty funny.

      Delete
    4. I'm actually not bass at all. I don't know what I am, but it's on the higher side. :P
Erm... not exactly a story... I've just heard it a lot, that's all. Back... at a certain point in time... That brings back memories.
Nope, I'm pretty sure I haven't seen the music video, but I have seen snippets from some of her other ones.

    5. You should, her and her band go trash her ex's house. :-D

I'd love to hear what you think of this music!
