Music Request: I See Fire + My Dear Frodo

Today we have 2 music requests from Tabby Hollowell.

I LOVE the music for I See Fire, but HATE the voices. I'm sorry. But what irks me the most about it is the third and fourth lines of the song:
"And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin's sons"
Does that bug anyone else? Am I the only one? They should've said "Durin's FOLK" and they could've at least made the lyrics rhyme! But nooooo...
Come on, seriously. Put a little effort into these things, people.

Okay, so onto My Dear Frodo...

Very nice. I like it. Especially the ending, with the Thorin-esque theme. I love that theme.

EDIT: I found a longer version of this track on youtube. It's much better in my opinion, especially since it has the Shire theme in it:

So what did you think of today's music requests? Have a request of your own? Simply place it in the contact form on the right sidebar, and send it to me! Or, if that's too complicated for you, Leave a comment! :)

  1. Wow, I seriously can't believe you don't like I See Fire! :O I will admit that I like Neil Finn's voice better than Ed Sheeran's, but I still like both. I had never thought about it not rhyming. That's an interesting point, and that's very true that they could have done a better job rhyming. However, I sort of like when song will rhyme for a few lines, then do a line that doesn't rhyme, and if I had thought about it, that would probably have been my thoughts on that. :)
Oh wow, that's not the whole My Dear Frodo song. The song is almost 9 minutes long. (On my Hobbit soundtrack it has the entire thing.) It's such a pretty piece of music, and on the full version I love that it jumps from one theme to another. And yes, it does end with a Thorin-esque theme. :)

    1. I didn't say I didn't lie it; I just don't like the voice talent. I like the music itself, and it's one of the few songs I don't mind getting stuck in my head.
There's barely any rhyming in I See Fire at all, if you look at the lyrics. It's obvious they weren't even trying.

Hmmm. I'll see if I can find a longer version.

  2. You just need to write their songs for them. You could fix all the rhyming problems. You could fix all the voices. You could make two billion dollars on a song that would rock the world and inspire millions. YOU CAN DO IT!

But as for me, I like that it doesn't rhyme and it moves against the flow of what we usually hear. The whole song refreshes me. So there's my opinion.

    1. You're right! I never thought of that! Well, see you later, I have 2 Billion to make...
Seriously though, I was thinking just the other day: IF I ended up writing a song or two, I was wondering if you or maybe Haley would be up for putting it to music...?

Well, you're entitled to your (wrong) opinion. :)

    2. Hahaha! Jonny....
Umm....yah sure, as well as I can. It's not like I put together music for a living or anything. Haley has done really well with tunes. Me....haha. I'd do my best and have fun, but nothing's to say I'd show you the finished product.

Yes, thank you, and I will keep it.

  3. What songs I have heard of Ed Sheeran's are all like that- they go with the rhythm of the melody, and then he breaks out of it for a couple lines, and then back in. I go back and forth on whether I like it or not.
I always thought the "Durin's sons" was talking about the last of the line of Durin, a.k.a, Thorin, and Fili and Kili. Everyone seems to disagree on whether this song is talking solely about when Smaug first came, or if it's also foreshadowing their return to the mountain.

    1. I would have no idea. But as far as I understand, Fili and Kili aren't really related to Thorin in the book, right? So I'd say it is talking about when Smaug first came. But see the music WAS made for the movie. So I really would have no idea.

    2. Fili and Kili ARE related to Thorin in the book! :P

    3. Mongoo, it would make sense to say "Durin's sons", since.. say, Bofur and Bombur are there, BUT they aren't Durin's sons.
I've noticed the same about his songs. And I really like that.

    4. Yeah, they're his Nephews. ...andtheybothdie

"Durin's Sons" barely makes sense, and only in certain situations, whereas "Durin's Folk" makes sense either way. I'm telling you, it would've made more sense, AND it would've rhymed. People just don't think these things through.

I'd love to hear what you think of this music!
