John Carter: Love Theme

This is actually just the normal John Carter theme, but I call it a love theme because it reminds me of a mix of Leia's theme and the Padme/Anakin love theme from Star Wars, as well as the Indiana Jones love theme. We have the amazing Michael Giacchino to thank for this moving soundtrack.

I feel like being swept away on a romantic and daring quest to save a Princess on a Red Planet...

Colette Shows Him Le Ropes

I recently picked up a CD that has Pixar's greatest soundtrack hits. My word, these are really good!

Here's one of my favorites. Very exotic, very lively, very cool. It sounds like it would be really fun to dance to. What do you think?

Oh, and it's from the Ratatouille soundtrack, which was composed by none other than Michael Giacchino! Who knew?

Star Trek: Into Darkness End Credits

I really love how Michael Giacchino adapted the original Star Trek theme! And the stunning visuals just make the music that much better.

Medal of Honor: Frontline

I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that Michel Giacchino (the composer behind the amazing soundtracks for the two latest Star Trek movies) was also the composer for the Medal of Honor video game soundtracks, which I adored.

Not the kind of music you'd expect to hear from a WW2 video game. Very calm, very quiet, very emotional. Especially with those vocals (though the girl at the beginning sounds really young). It focuses less on the action, less on the fighting, less on the destruction; and focuses more on the sadness, the loss, the desolation; but also the morals, honor, and lives that are at stake. At least, that's how it strikes me.

Most soundtracks from shooter games rile me up, but this one calms me down. It has a very sobering effect. I like it. I hope you do too.

Enterprising Young Men

Michael Giacchino is one of my favorite living composers, along with John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and Howard Shore. He was tasked with composing the soundtrack for the new Star Trek movies, and I must say, he did a really good job. I'm not a huge Star Trek fan, but I still think Giacchino did a great job in making fresh new music while still retaining the feel that the soundtracks from the older films/shows had.

In any case, this is probably my favorite part of the entire soundtrack. Do you have a favorite part?
